Carlos Denene Evans, 75, of Logan County, entered Heaven’s gates on July 8, 2024, at CAMC Hospital in Charleston, WV, following a short illness. He was born June 4, 1949, in Raleigh County, WV. He was the son of the Late John and Helma Evans.
Carlos was a bright light in this world and a devoted family man. His light was brightest when he was surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of 26 years to Lisa Evans. The loving father to his only son John (Camille) Evans. He was the cherished papaw to Cooper and Elin Evans. He was the devoted brother to Don Zickafoose of Springfield, Missouri, John (Jenny) Evans of Ontario, Canada, Robert (Barbara) Evans of Washington, WV, Paula Tomblin of Cleveland, OH, Teresa (Rodney) Dingess of Henlawson, WV, and Debbie (Gary) Salyers of Wheelersburg, OH.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gordon Evans and Helma Evans, three brothers, Melvin Evans, Dennis (Anita) Evans, and Timothy Evans, and one sister, Regina Stevens.
Carlos spent 36 years with the UMWA working for several different coal companies as a diesel mechanic. He worked for Guyan Machinery, Walker Machinery, Belva Coal Company, and retired from Hobet Mining. Carlos genuinely enjoyed his work, but the friendships he developed during his time is what he valued.
Carlos was a friend to everyone and never knew a stranger. He displayed kindness, generosity, and had the ability to make everyone feel loved. He was a faithful servant to the Lord and was a member of the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Logan, WV. He shared his love for Jesus and the path to Heaven to everyone he met.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Freewill Baptist Church at Mill Creek, WV. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Pecks Mill.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Dotson, Danny Vance, Dennis Adkins, Philip Meade, Melvin Meade, and George Ferrell.
Pallbearers will be nephews and close friends.
