“Some people pray to angels; we held ours in our arms.”
Brooks Weston Smith, 2, of Chapmanville, WV, was born March 1, 2022, at South Charleston, WV. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
He was the loving son of Dustin and Hailey Smith of Chapmanville, WV.
Brooks was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Papaw Joe, Nanny Mary Sheppard, Donnie Smith, James Price, Sr., and Jimmie Stamperd; his great-great-grandparents, Jack and Cindy Riley and Nanny Ruth Scott; two great-aunts, Carrie Scott and Ann Wilson; and one cousin, Josh Gillum.
Brooks's infectious smile and boundless energy brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew him. His adoration for his brothers was unmistakable, as he loved them more than anything. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that his family will hold dear forever. His adventurous spirit often led him on exciting journeys, including bear hunting, where he imagined himself as a brave and fearless explorer. His playfulness knew no bounds, and he could frequently be seen wrestling, often imitating his favorite wrestler, John Cena, to the delight and amusement of his loved ones. A little boy with a big personality, Brooks's favorite treat was pancakes on a stick, paired with a big glass of chocolate milk. He loved singing and dancing, as he never hesitated to be the star of his own show. He also loved playing games on his iPad. Brooks's smile was a gift that he gave freely and often, touching the hearts of everyone he met. Though his time with us was brief, the impact of his vibrant spirit will be felt for a lifetime.
“So God made a Bubba.”
Those left to cherish his precious memory, in addition to his loving parents, are his brothers, Jase Parker Smith and Jaxx Lee Smith; his grandparents, Nanny Lisa and Papaw David Scott, Paw Sonny and “Yan Yan” Christie Smith, and Pawpaw James Price, Jr.; his great-grandparents, Mamaw June, Poppy Doug, Mamaw Mary, Grammy Betty, and Margie Smith; his great-great-grandmother, Mamaw Meade; his uncles, Dylan “Unc Dyl” (Rinna) Smith and Lance “Bub” Scott; his aunts, Sissy Amanda (Zach) Holden, Kelsey (Johnney) Hager, and Kali (Ryan) Thomas; his cousins, Cooper “Yoopie” Holden, Clover Holden, Mason Bumgarner, and Carter Belcher; his special best friends, Nate Smith, Cook, and Coot; and a special dog, Jack Jack.
