Brenda Kay Powell

Brenda Kay Powell, 67, of Madison, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, leaving from her residence, surrounded by her family.

Born August 25, 1954, at Madison, WV, she was the daughter of the late Billy and Betty Hicks McCormick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Scott Powell, and one daughter, Tiffany Lynn Powell McKinney.

Brenda was a devout Christian and a member of the Jarrell Valley Community Church at Madison, WV. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching movies with her children. She also loved reading the Bible and shopping, and when she discovered Amazon, it was game over. Some of her most cherished and favorite times were spent at Park Avenue, having dinner with her family. Brenda was always very particular about her appearance, and she never had a hair out of place. She enjoyed watching religious programs, bowling, and playing Rummy with her friends and family, for she always knew how to win. Most of all, Brenda loved her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Scotty (Becky) Powell of Julian, WV; two daughters, Brittany Powell and Breanna Powell both of Madison, WV; three grandchildren, Austin Powell and Cody Powell both of Julian, WV, and Brody McKinney of Logan, WV; three sisters, Linda (Tommy) Parsons and Lena Mae Kinder both of Madison, WV, and Mary (Daniel) Thomas of Uneeda, WV. Additionally, Brenda leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, along with a host of extended relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all who assisted in caring for Brenda including Kindred Home Health, Tony and Dreama Williams, and Shannon Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Tony Williams and Rev. Ronnie Gibson officiating.

Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park at Turtle Creek, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that quilts and other memorabilia be sent.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV.
