Billy Charles Conley, 80, of Dingess, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2024, leaving from his residence, with his wife and daughters by his side.
He was born July 11, 1943, at Logan, WV, a son of the late Keefer and Verda Sargent Conley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Ray Conley and Timmy Conley; three sisters, Cora “Weezy” Conley, Konetta “Neety” Curry, and Delores “Jean” Jacobs; and one brother, Keefer Conley, Jr.
Billy made his living as a skilled machinist, lastly having been employed at Elkay Mining Company. Beyond his professional work, he was known as a jack of all trades. He was a devout Christian and a cherished member of the Hanna United Baptist Church at Harts. Gardening was one of his greatest joys. An avid outdoorsman, Billy's love for nature extended beyond his garden. He had a love for horses and music. He was also a talented guitar player and gifted songwriter. In his earlier days, he enjoyed chicken fighting. At home, Billy was a wonderful dad and a true family man. His ability to fix anything, his willingness to help others, and his generous spirit were qualities that defined him as a person. He will long be remembered for his kindness, and his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruby Conley; two daughters, Theresa (Alan) Hunt of Johnson City, TN, and Tammy (Larry) Adkins of Genoa, WV; his grandchildren, Allen (Melissa) Fillinger, Matthew (Chelsey) Fillinger, Ashley (Dustin) Mills and their father Percy Fillinger, Billy Charles Conley, II, and his mother Lisa Conley, and Halee Conley; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Colton, Brooklyn, Noah, and Corey; and one brother, Delbert Conley of Big Ugly, WV. Additionally, Billy leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of other dear relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Grant Lee officiating.
