Betty Ann Shannon Hanley, 84, of Chapmanville, WV, formerly of Lavelette, WV, was born on December 5, 1938, at Logan, WV. She was a daughter of the late Harry and Bernice Hinchman Shannon. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 27, 2023, at home, surrounded by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanley; and two brothers, Hallie Spry and Charles Shannon.

Previously, Betty lived in Chicago, IL, where she worked for Zenith Corporation and retired after 30 years of service. After retirement, Betty returned to West Virginia and made a home next to her sister-in-law, Mae Ferguson. Betty took great pride in her home and maintained the interior and exterior in exemplary condition. She was an avid walker and enjoyed taking daily walks along Camp Road near Lavalette. As the eldest child, Betty was a loving sister and played an active role in taking care of her younger sisters and brother.

Survivors include three sisters, Sharlene (Eddie) Griffith of Chapmanville, WV, Judy Russ (Bob Bailey) of Huntington, WV, and Willa Yeager of Summerville, SC; nieces and nephews, Betty Lynn (John) Flesher of Madison, WV, Bobby (Teresa) Shannon of Chapmanville, WV, Natalie (Chad) Avery of Salt Lake City, UT, Brooke (Jeremy) Tate of Haymarket, VA, Tammy Simpkins (Joyce Gibson) of Huntington, WV, John Russ of Lexington, KY, Ashley (Ryan) Wishman of Summerville, SC, and Timothy (Crystal) Yeager of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Faye Wiley of Madison, WV; one special friend, Bonita Gurney of Chapmanville, WV.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Rev. Lonnie Gore, Jr., officiating.

Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
