Betty Paris Obituary

Betty Ann Paris

Betty Ann Paris, 88, of Harts, WV, passed away at home on January 1, 2021, after suffering from Lewy Body Dementia for over twelve years. She was born on April 21, 1932, at Omar, WV. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charlie Paris; her parents, Blucher Toney and Linnie (Spears) Toney; brothers, Grover, Ermine, Arthur, Donald, and Wandel; and one great-grandson, Wade Mullins.

Betty was the oldest of ten children of whom she often cared for as her own until she married Charlie on September 7, 1951. Betty cared for her mother-in-law while raising her four children. She always made her family priority, all while she worked at Lucian Jones General Store, Leet Post Office, Vance’s Pic Pac, and later in life, retiring from Logan Manufacturing. Betty was always known for her beautiful smile and infectious laughter. She loved to cook for her family and anyone that would visit her home, using her canned food she and Charlie grew in their garden that they often sold to local stores, markets, and neighbors.

Betty is survived by her children, Joyce (Larry) Stratton, Judy (Dave) Lucas, Elaine (Randall) Kirk, and Eddie (Geneva) Paris; grandchildren, Jody, Erica, Alicia, Joseph, and Emma; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Shade, Gavin, Shealynn, and Matthew; siblings, Curtis, Marcell, Blucher, Jr., and Ruby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Betty was cared for by her loving children, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, and sons-in-law. During the last few years of Charlie’s life, it took two of their children to care for them. Betty had never been alone in over five years. Her family would like to thank Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville, WV, for their extended care as well as her physician, Dr. Linda Kessinger.

Betty had been a Christian since her early twenties. She had been a long-standing member of the Leet Church of Christ. There will be no services. She will be cremated, and her ashes, along with her husband, Charlie’s, will be buried together at their family cemetery, Oakview Cemetery, Laurel Fork of Big Ugly, Paris Road, Harts, WV, at a later date. Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville, WV, is in charge of the arrangements.
