Bessie Sheuvon Hanna (nee Perdue), 75, of North Eaton Ohio, passed away peacefully at Keystone Pointe Lagrange, Ohio on Monday, August 14th, 2023.
Bessie was born in Logan West Virginia on July 5th, 1946 to Elzie and Zumal Perdue (nee McCormick). She moved to Cleveland Ohio in 1965 after she graduated from Logan high School where she met and married William Hanna (Nov. 16th 1941 – Jun 15th 2011). She has lived in North Eaton since February of 1979.
Bessie was a dedicated Mother and wife to her husband and family. Her favorite activities were singing hymns, reading the Bible, canning, cooking, playing cards/board games, cake decorating, watching the Hallmark channel and spending time with her family and friends in addition to working at Midview Schools as guidance/EMIS secretary for 23 years. She was a mother to her core, not only to her son and grandson but to everyone she met. She nurtured and comforted anyone who came into her presence.
Bessie was strong in her faith and a beloved member of the Island Road Freewill Baptist Church where she volunteered her time at various church functions and activities.
Bessie will be deeply missed and is survived by her loving son, Randall Hanna, grandson, Sebastian Hanna, brother-in-law, Roger Kerns, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Bessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, William Hanna, her parents Elzie and Zumal (nee McCormick) Perdue, dear bothers Leonard Perdue, Erthel Perdue, Herschel Perdue and Jerry Perdue, dear sisters Lil Perdue, Barbara (nee Perdue) Kinser, Leora Perdue, Carolyn (nee Perdue) Kerns, Donna (nee Perdue) Beesimer, niece Robin (nee Perdue) Jobes and her dearly beloved mother-in-law Inez (Maw) Hanna and her father-in-law James Hanna.
Of special note: thanks to nieces Faith (nee Kerns) Odat, Christina (nee Dickerson) Johosky, Joyce (nee Yeager) Resko, Delilah (nee Bilelo) Smith, Shawna Kerns, Doris, Donna (nee Hager) Sarr, great nieces Kimberly (nee Perdue) Pullen, Patricia Rhine, Vanessa Perry, Tracy Hanna, great nieces Elizabeth Butch, Cathy Jean Adams, Nadia Odat, Katelyn Hanna, nephews Ross Kerns, Jimbo Hanna, Bill Perry, Clint Perry, great nephews Philip Bilelo, Shane Perry, Ethan Hanna and her beloved friend Anita Crum for being a special part of her life.
Services will be held for Bessie by Evans Funeral Home, 334 Crawley Creek Road Chapmanville, West Virginia 25508 on September 2, 2023 from 12-2pm.
