Bessie R. Williamson

Bessie R. Williamson, 80, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2023, leaving from the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House at Huntington, WV.

She was born December 17, 1942, at Harts, WV, a daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Dillon Vance.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Williamson; two brothers, Wilson Vance and General Vance; and one sister, Rosie Belle Ware.

Bessie was a homemaker. A faithful and devoted Christian, she attended Stone Branch Church of God and Friendship Christian Church whenever she was able to do so. Bessie loved reading the Bible. She also loved sewing and would often make quilts and blankets which were beautiful reflections of her talents. Along with her love for sewing, she also had a passion for arts and crafts, cooking, and shopping.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Avery Williamson of Huntington, WV; one daughter, Geneva Speight of Chapmanville, WV; two grandsons, Todd (Shaina York) Mowery and Tyler Speight; four great-grandchildren, Braxton Mowery, Hendrix Mowery, Lennox Mowery, and Isla Mowery; one brother, Namon (Josephine) Vance of Harts, WV; her best friend, Carlene Mowery Boggs. Additionally, Bessie leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with a host of other dear relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel at Chapmanville, WV, with Norman Adams officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sheppard-Meeks Cemetery at Harts, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
