Barbara A. Carter, 92, of Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.
She was born on August 6, 1933, at Harts, WV, to the late Dewey and Alice Mullins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac “Ike” Carter; sisters, Ova Mullins, Shelby Mullins, and Bertie Mullins; and brothers, Dola Workman, Grover Kinser, and Weddington Mullins.
Barbara was a devout Christian and cherished member of the community. Reading her Bible was a testament to her dedication to her faith. She was a member of the Crossroads Community Church, where she loved worshipping the Lord with her church family. Barbara was an avid reader and a master of crossword puzzles. Her intellectual curiosity was matched by her sharp wit and love for a good challenge. She found great joy in the fellowship and excitement of Bingo nights at the Chapmanville Towers, where her laughter and enthusiasm were infectious at every game. Barbara’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those she inspired, and her memory will be a guiding light for all who were blessed to know her.
Those left to cherish her memory are two nieces, Margaret and Lila; two nephews, William Michael Workman and Curtis; foster daughter, Kimberly (James) Calloway; foster granddaughter, Whitney (Cliff) Staley; and three grandsons. Additionally, Barbara leaves behind a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 7, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Jimmy Carter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery at Harts, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
