Andy Thompson

Andy Thompson, 47, of Big Creek, WV, departed this life on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Logan Regional Medical Center at Logan, WV.

He was born February 12, 1976, at Huntington, WV, the son of Cecil Thompson, Jr., and Carolyn Sparks Thompson of Big Creek, WV.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Dick and Erie Thompson; and his maternal grandfather, Clyde Sparks.

Andy was a 1994 graduate of Harts High School where he played basketball and baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed hunting. He was also a self-taught mechanic, using his acquired skills to tinker with and repair cars and motorcycles. Andy will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include one son, Michael Andrew Thompson of Big Creek, WV; two daughters, Katlyn (Matthew) Bradley of Danville, WV, and Jesse (Chris Adams) Watts of Big Creek, WV; 5 grandchildren; one brother, Matthew Thompson of Harts, WV; and his maternal grandmother, Nora Sparks of Big Creek, WV. Additionally, Andy leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at Evans Funeral Home at Chapmanville, WV.

To honor Andy’s wishes, he will be cremated following the visitation.
