Almeda Jean “Jeanie” Christian, 74 of Davin WV departed this life for her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Jeanie was born on August 15th, 1950 to the late Rev. Wetzel Thomas “Tom” and Annabell (Derosette) Bailey. Jeanie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She dedicated her life to assisting others in their time of need. She retired after 21 years from the Logan County Prosecutor's Office where she served as Victims Advocate. In April of 2018, she was presented with the dedication of the Almeda Jean Christian Soft Interview Room, creating a safe space for victims of crimes. After her retirement, she enjoyed homemaking, canning, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Especially her “great grands.”
In addition to her parents, Jeanie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Ralph Jennings Christian. One daughter, Joyce LuAnn Christian. Sisters, Margarett Bailey, Shirley Bailey-Lusk, Charlotte Bailey-Plumley, and Lou Bailey-Gordon. Son-in-law, James “Bucky” Bartley.
Those left behind to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy include, daughters Lisa (Joe) Wimmer, and Paula (Thomas) Holt, Step-daughter whom she loved whole, Shelia (Dwayne) Lambert. Grandchildren, Courtney (Bradley Nunn) Bartley-Woods, Thomas (Jenni Ellis) Holt Jr., Breanna Wimmer, Brett (Elena) Wimmer, Dalton (Lauren) Holt, Madaya Christian, Jessica (Josh) Chambers, and Jennings (Tiffany) Lambert. Great-Great-Grandchildren, Asher Harvey, Korbin Holt, Easton Wimmer. Raelynn Wimmer, Abby Stolling, Uriah Chambers, Jocelyn Chambers, Oliva Lambert, Ella Lambert, and Twin Baby Wimmer Girls due in September. Brother, Wetzel (Sandy) Bailey. Sister, Paula Bailey-Ellis. Brothers-in-law, Dale Lusk, William “Bill” (Sharon) Christian, and Harold (Cathy) Christian. Sister-in-law, Ruth Christian-Watts. Special friends whom she loved as family, Chrissy Winger, Belinda McCloud, and Kim Browning. Along with a host of other family members.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Lincoln Primary Care of Man Staff, Chris Tipton whom she loved as a son, Dignity Hospice, and Evans Funeral Home of Chapmanville, WV.
Services will be conducted Friday, April 4th, 2025 at the Gilman Bottom House of Prayer with Pastor Allan Brown officiating at 6pm. Visitation will begin at 5pm.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Evans Funeral Home & Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
