Adella "Gaie" Adams Obituary

Adella “Gaie” Adams, 89, of Harts, WV, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

She was born July 15, 1934, at Harts, WV, daughter of the late Frank Adams and Ina Dingess.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Lloyd “Pete” Adams; one son, Lloyd “Pete” Adams, Jr.; sisters, Avonelle “Mink” Adams and Gail Adams; brothers, Leslie Adams and Billy Adams; her stepmother, Katherine Adams; brother-in-law, Joe Adams; great-nephew, Kristopher Mullins; one son-in-law, Stanley Dingess; and a special cousin, Emmett Dingess.

Gaie was a schoolteacher for 33 years, starting her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse at Bulwark on Harts. She retired from Hugh Dingess Grade School. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Mt. Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching game shows, talking on the phone, and checking on the sick and elderly in the community. Her world revolved around spending time with her grandchildren. Gaie’s absence will be very deeply missed by all who knew her, and her kindness will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Alice “Angel” Dingess; one grandson, Dave (Darra) Dingess; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Victoria “Rosebud,” Jr., Gabriel, Carson, and Aiden; step-grandchildren, Taten, Layla, Lara, Hannah, and Justin; sisters, Harriet, Judy, and Lucy; and one brother, Page (Faye) Adams. She was also the godmother of Kayla and Ryan Dingess. Additionally, Nanny Gaie leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a host of extended family and friends.
